Reverse your Gap

I have recently finished listening to (from Audible) The Code of the Extraordinary Mind, by Vishen Lakhiani (for the second time)!


One extremely insightful section that I thought stood out to me was his theory on reversing your gap - which is a way to increase your happiness in the now, and allows you to feel better about your work. By doing this, you can feel more confident in what you have done and where you are going, and it may even spur you on to work better and faster and more efficiently!

Reverse your Gap.
Most people, when they have a task or goal, will put blinkers on and will only focus on what is left to achieve. By doing this, you are resigning yourself to always feel like you are not enough, and that you haven't achieved anything yet. You will also be more likely to feel like you are unhappy with how you have been working on the task, which may even lead to you giving up on the task.

A quick 'mind-hack' to help change this around is to change your own perspective. Instead of looking at how much you have left to achieve, start looking at what you have already achieved, and how much progress you have made. In this way, you will be more likely to be proud of what you have achieved, and you will be able to put into perspective much better how far your goal actually is from being completed! You will be much less likely to give up if you look at what you have already achieved.

Looking back also allows you to be able to realise your learning much easier - it is easy to forget how much you have learned from your past when all you can see is how much there is left to learn... But look at how much you have already learned, and you will be able to appreciate it much better!


Stop looking at what you have left to achieve, and start looking at how far you have come.

Learn Failure

Mistakes and failure are a bit of a bummer when they happen, but can they also be the best thing to happen to you?

Learn Failure.

Mistakes are a chance for you to be able to learn. by making a mistake - you have learned one way not to do something. Instead of focusing on the negatives of whatever mistakes you have made, it is better to try to focus more on the learning opportunities this failure has created. This is why there are prototypes, alpha and beta releases, and that sort of thing - they are designed to fail, so that they can bring back information on what is wrong! This way, what is wrong can be fixed.


Mistakes don't make us feel good - they can make us feel vulnerable and discourage us. One big factor that stops people from achieving things in their life is the fear of failure, and the fear of what people will think. Don't give up hope here though - this is the best time to power through and learn! Try and see through this potential 'failure' and stop thinking that you might fail. Start thinking that you WILL succeed, and you will be amazing.

When YOU are confident in your product and idea, it INSPIRES others to be confident in it too - and to be confident in you.

People who stand out, who let themselves be seen, are people that are admired and respected. When you see past potential failure, and you allow yourself to be seen by others and go into the 'arena', you are then able to influence others and inspire - and this is amazing! Sure, there are some that might send criticism, but the majority of people will be cheering you on and will respect you for simply being seen and taking that chance.

I found out about this quote from an Audiobook on Audible called "The Power of Vulnerability" by BrenĂ© Brown, which was taken from her book 'Daring Greatly', which was inspired by this quote also.

So go out there, dare greatly, make mistakes, stand out, and be seen. be unafraid of failure. Use whatever failure happens to learn. Invent your world.

Keep Learning


Life is long, life can be challenging. 

The best way to keep your brain active and healthy, is to Keep Learning!

Learning is something that never stops, but it can slow down. School wasn't something that most people enjoyed (the learning part anyway), but by keeping yourself learning, you are making yourself a continually better person - learning is one of the best things you can do for yourself.


When you learn new skills, or learn how to better utilise your current skillset, it helps you grow! This can have an extremely positive impact on your social life, your professional life (advancing in your career - or making a new career), your love life, and everything else in your life. If you have a hobbies and interests, these can be greatly enhanced by learning, and if you would like new hobbies and interests, these come about by learning about them!

How can I learn?

Learning doesn't just have to be limited to standard classroom stuff like in school. You can take up something Artistic (whether in class, online, or in some other format) like:

  • Performing arts
  • Creative arts
  • Martial arts
  • Photography
  • Pottery
  • Many more..

What can I learn?

You can learn almost anything! There are almost no limits on what you are able to learn, so pick something that interests you, and go for it. Whether you want to learn an art, learn about tech, learn about science, learn how to write, learn how to make films, or ANYTHING else, you can.

Think, Learn, Do. Win.

Life Achievement

What is stopping you from achieving your goals?
What can YOU DO to get rid of these obstacles, so they aren't obstacles?

Your life is the longest thing you will ever do, and you don't want to have to look back at the end of it and think 'What if...?'.

Achieving goals is also a great way of spurring yourself on to be a more creative and inventive person - getting through smaller goals first will increase your ability to power through discouragement as you step up and up to larger goals. It can also help to split larger goals into smaller achievements, so you don't feel so swamped. The more effort you put into life, the more life you will have.




It is so easy to look at your goals, and see only the effort that it will take to reach them. When you do this, it is just as easy to think 'I won't bother', and give up on it. You need to power through this, and reach the other side! As Edison said "Nearly every man who develops an idea works it up to the point where it looks impossible, and then he gets discouraged. That's not the place to become discouraged.", you need to try to push through this stage, and this will push you to be a stronger person overall - as Nelson Mandela said "It always seems impossible until it's done".

I have made all of the greatest achievements in my life from not giving into thinking it is 'too hard' - I ran a Marathon, ran a Half-Marathon (dressed as 'The Flash'), completed an Olympic length Triathlon, I was an extra in a TV show for a while, and soon I will be going for my Black Belt in Kung Fu!

So stop putting things off, stop thinking things are too hard, get out there and achieve your goals.
